Autumnal Light #1

Whether we like it or not, autumn is settling in. The beautiful changing colours are a treat to the eye, no one can deny it, but it’s a package deal – gloomy, cold, rainy days aren’t exactly the most pleasant autumnal feature. After a few years of warm to hot autumns, those typically rainy days came as a surprise, nobody was expecting them before November. Well, this year autumn is autumn…

I believe the “last summer day” I was mentioning a year ago is already behind us and there’s nothing we can do about it. I don’t much care for gloomy depressing weather (though I would have certainly enjoyed some more rain this summer, only to ruin the locusts’ fun… but that’s just my mean streak). However, it’s not just depressing rainy days we’re getting, so that’s even more of a reason to make the best of those warm and pleasant autumn moments.

Feeling somewhat suffocated indoors last week, I went for a walk between two rain showers. I found this spring’s roses still blooming, but clearly for the last time this year. They still looked pretty to me… so did the rest of the park after the rain. We’re still at that point where seasons are merging, many trees still have their fully green foliage, but autumn is clearly here to stay. So I’d like to share some autumn moment with all of you, and I hope you enjoy them.
