I always enjoyed reading and I would occasionally feel the need to be on the other side of the page, so to say, be the one doing the writing. But this has mainly been a personal, therapeutic activity. I deviated from this pastime for a while, when literature and foreign languages became something I chose to study, rather than just indulge in whenever I had the time. A couple of years after graduating from University I eventually started writing for fun again – I grew exhausted by the excessively practical application of what I had learnt, so I found my way back to the old, impractical, creative outlet.
Parallel Lives was the result of a promise to myself, it was never meant to pay the bills or be a literary masterpiece; I just needed to prove myself I could write it and eventually share it with whoever might be interested in reading it. This lead to the blog, which was initially meant to showcase the book, but it didn’t take long for me to discover how many beautiful, gifted and supportive people there were in the WordPress community. So my posts often stray from the typical presentation of sample fragments and I end up focusing on more personal aspects. So thank you for stopping by and putting up with me 🙂 . Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions!
Hi Ana – really enjoyingyour site. Fab photographs and words. I’ve just started mine really as a way of helping to get my novel out there, which I’ve just completed.

In Vermont at Lake Willoughby in the Northern Kingdom, is a dilapidated 2-story woodframe cottage called The Linden. I’ve stayed there. You can drop a marble on the floor and it will roll about for hours seeking the lowest point in the structure. Thank you for dropping by my online writing studio and reacting favorably to my poem, Suppost I do. — Skip

Hey!! Thanks for visiting my blog and liking one of my posts! What is funny is that a few years ago I had another blog and I remember you leaving very kind comments on it (it was more of a writing blog – it was called “I write what I cannot say”). I don’t know if you remember but there we go. Don’t know why I never followed yours but I am now! 😀

Thanks for stopping by my page and liking an entry. Writing has been a huge part of my life and has helped me through very difficult times more often than not. Aside from writing, I plunge myself into the lives of the characters in a good book almost to the point I feel like Im actually there, experiencing what they are experiencing. 😀 Oh and I read too. 😀 And congratulations on your literary masterpiece 😀

Wow 🙂 I wouldn’t go as far as calling it a masterpiece, but thank you so much for the amazingly encouraging words. Thank you for returning the visit as well, it’s always a pleasure to discover and be discovered by other fellow bloggers.
I share your passion for literature – it has always provided me with solace, escape, support, as well as with new perspectives, whenever I needed them… and even before I had a chance to understand and accept I needed them. It’s funny how distancing yourself from reality for a few moments can help you better cope with it…
Good luck with your writing and happy reading! 🙂

It’s the openness and directness that I appreciate the most in all your poems that I read so far. Trying to ‘paint’ sensuality without becoming tasteless while also conferring a deeper layer of emotions is never an easy task.

Writing is such a unique and therapeutic creative outlet. When I fantasize about being a writer for a living, I often ask myself if I could ever truly retire. It’s too much a part of my soul and being. Glad to see that I’m not alone in this regard!

I doubt that anyone who manages to make a living as an artist is ever able to really retire. I can only imagine it would be like willingly foregoing a great part of your identity.
As far as mere mortals like myself are concerned, we’ve got our dreams to keep us warm, together with the good fortune of having found a creative outlet that helps stay sane and cope with the daily madness of life 🙂 . Why should we give it up?

Hey Ana, I have nominated you for the blogger recognition award. I would really be happy if you’d accept it. I would perfectly understand if you decide to decline it. Please check the post at https://normashilpi.wordpress.com/?p=2288&preview=true. Please ignore the comment if it went twice.

Thank you for your nomination, Norma! That’s very kind of you. A few months ago I have decided to stop receiving awards, but I have created a small corner on my site dedicated to all those who have thought of me in the past and might consider me in the future. I will update that section, including your nomination, a link to your site and of course, a thank you note. I hope you forgive me for not writing a separate post. Once more again, thank you for having thought of me. Have a beautiful week 🙂
